Nanocrystal-Based Topical Gels for Improving Wound Healing Efficacy of Curcumin
نویسندگان
چکیده
Topical curcumin shows poor local availability because of its low aqueous solubility and inadequate tissue absorption. Curcumin nanocrystals were prepared by sonoprecipitation followed lyophilization to improve surface area solubility. The formulation was optimized the Design Experiment (DoE) approach. characterized for particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity index, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder x-ray diffraction (PXRD), practical yield in vitro drug release studies. nanocrystal-incorporated gel evaluated content, ex vivo permeation, skin irritation, wound healing activity. Time sonication amplitude influenced optimization nanocrystals, but effect stabilizer concentrations not significant beyond 0.5% w/w. SEM images revealed irregular plate-shaped particles with rough surfaces. PXRD patterns showed crystallinity compared unprocessed powder. An study demonstrated improvement percentage cumulative form curcumin, profile exhibited first-order kinetics. nanocrystal 93.86% content free irritation potential. Excision activity albino rats that significantly faster contraction than powder-incorporated gel.

Evidence-Based Answer Topical silver should not be used for treatment of nonburn wounds because it does not hasten healing. (Strength of Recommendation [SOR]: A, based on a systematic review of randomized controlled trials [RCTs].) Medical-grade topical honey can be used to reduce healing time for partial-thickness burns, but it produces no effect on lacerations, surgical wounds, chronic wounds...
متن کاملEfficacy of topical application of coumarin on incisional wound healing in BALB/c mice
Background: Wound healing is one of the main problems faced by medical scientists. Nowadays, herbal compounds are used to accelerate the repairing process. Coumarin is a plant compound with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects. In the present study, the benefits of using coumarin in accelerating wound healing were investigated in mice. Methods: Sixty...
متن کاملWound cleansing, topical antiseptics and wound healing.
Quality of care is a critical requirement for wound healing and 'good' care of wounds has been synonymous with topical prevention and management of microbial contamination. Topical antiseptics are antimicrobial agents that kill, inhibit or reduce the number of microorganisms and are thought to be essential for wounds infection control. However, they have long and commonly been used on wounds to...
متن کاملThe Effects of Topical Sildenafil on Wound Healing in Rat
Nitric oxide (NO) is an important molecule synthesized during wound repair. Studies have reported the use of NO donors on cutaneous wound repair, but their effects in different phases of healing are not elucidated. The aim of this work was to investigate the effects of topical sildenafil on wounds in rats. Sildenafil (25 mg) was topically applied once daily on wound in treatment groups. On...
